Phys. Maria Scicluna
I qualified in 2003 at the University of Brighton (UK) with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy and went on to work at several UK NHS Trusts before specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and moving into private practice in 2005. I have resided and worked in Malta since 2015. I have worked alongside Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons specialising in the management of upper limb disorders, knees, foot and ankles as well as Consultants in Pain Management. I also worked for a semi professional football club gaining a wealth of sports injury and injury prevention experience.
Besides treating a wide array of musculoskeletal conditions, I particularly enjoy treating those where treatment has been unsuccessful elsewhere. I am APPI trained in Pilates and am an expert in Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (dry needling), a total system for the diagnosis and treatment of myofascial pain syndromes (chronic pain).
I am also trained in sensorimotor rehabilitation and primitive reflex inhibition which are other treatments available for chronic pain.
